§ 50-3. Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Library means a building, books, materials, or facilities owned by the city or used by the city for the purpose of supplying the citizens of the city with accepted library functions.

Library board means a group composed of nine voluntary members, duly appointed by council action, which shall act in an advisory capacity for the public library.

Library director means a person so designated and employed as provided in this chapter and who is in charge of the library department.

Social affairs means bridal and baby showers, card clubs, and receptions of a personal nature, etc.
